I earned my B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kentucky and I am a licensed Professional Engineer. My engineering career has taken me to various positions in manufacturing, processing, and construction industries, including 16 years as the Plant Engineer for a large manufacturing facility in Richmond. Also, shipbuilding test engineer, maintenance supervisor, wastewater treatment design, mechanical design, project management, construction inspection/commissioning. This is the real world where we make useful things, make food, and make things work. I managed high-level regulatory compliance to ensure the law was followed and the environment protected. It is and has been a great privilege to work with a range of conscientious skilled people including the plant floor, tradesmen, management, legal compliance specialists, scientists, safety professionals, maintenance experts, and engineers of all disciplines.
